Do you like studying with other people?

HSKK Intermediate · Start with a short answering-questions exercise. This is skill practice, not a complete test.
A short answer can be understandable without explaining your idea. See how a preference becomes a reasoned response, then try it with your own experience.
Do you prefer studying alone or with other people? Why?

I prefer studying with classmates because we can help each other when we have a problem. For example, yesterday I could not work out a question. A classmate explained it to me, and then I understood. However, when I review new words, I like to read them on my own first.
The first response is not “wrong.” The revision explains what makes studying together useful and gives the listener a specific situation.
Answer the actual choice in the question.
Say what is useful, not just that it is interesting.
Use something that happened to you.

For its September 20, 2026 HSK 3.0 pilot, CTI requires HSK 3–6 to be registered with the corresponding speaking tests. This is a session-specific notice—not a reason to assume every previous test has the same structure. Check the current official notice and your selected center before choosing materials. Read CTI’s pilot notice.
Repeating a sentence is not the same as retelling a passage. A picture needs observation; an opinion needs support. Use these original HSKK-style samples to practice the action each task asks for.
Let’s meet at the library entrance at three tomorrow afternoon.
The afternoon detail is missing. Keep the time information and repeat the original sentence rather than replacing it with a similar one.
What time do you start work each day?
I start work at nine every morning.
The question asks for a time. Give that information first. A long introduction about your job is not needed.
Describe the picture in a short spoken response.
A student stands at the library service desk holding two books. A staff member points to a notice nearby. The student may be asking about the return time.
Start with visible details. Make it clear when you are suggesting something the picture does not confirm.
When you go to school, do you prefer taking the bus or riding a bicycle? Why?
I prefer riding a bicycle because my school is not far from home, and cycling gives me some exercise. However, when it rains, I take the bus.
Connect the choice to a reason. You can add a condition that would change your decision, rather than repeat the same point.
Listen to a short passage about a changed plan, then retell the main events.
Wang Ming planned to attend a friend’s birthday party on Saturday. On Friday evening, work called him in for the next day. He explained the situation to his friend, and they arranged to have a meal the following week.
Keep the plan, the reason it changed, and the new arrangement. Do not invent an argument or say that the friend was angry.
Many people think the most important part of learning a language is remembering more words. Without opportunities to use them, however, it is difficult to produce them naturally in communication. Review and practical use should therefore work together.
Keep the contrast clear at “但是,” and let “因此” introduce the conclusion. Read the supplied text rather than changing it into a different answer.
Do you think university students should have part-time jobs? Why?
A more developed response
University students can consider part-time work. It can help them understand the workplace and manage their time. But if working affects their classes or rest, they should reduce their hours. The decision depends on their study situation.
Give reasons, recognize a possible problem, and explain when your advice would change.
Useful practice gives you a next step—not just a number. Ask whether your response did the job, choose one improvement, and speak again.
Keep the parts that already work. You do not need a longer answer for every task, and you do not need to rewrite a sentence you were asked to repeat.
These are self-review prompts and learning suggestions. They are not an official HSK or HSKK scoring system and do not predict an exam result.
Did I keep the words and important details?
Did I answer the information being requested?
Did my response match what was visible?
Did I keep the main events and their connection?
Did my reason actually support my position?
Did I read the supplied text without losing parts of it?
One response. One improvement. Another attempt.
Read or listen. Identify exactly what the task asks.
Make your first attempt without copying the example.
Compare your response and choose one useful change.
Try again, then note what you want to practice next.
